Aviation Merit Badge

A quick note to parents and Scouts.... many of the boys are participating in the Aviation Merit Badge. Part of this badge requirement is the completion of the worksheet... as a merit Badge Counselor I see this as mandatory to ensure all the work is covered, and yet 4 weeks ( 5 calendar weeks) into it and some scouts have done nothing. While some of the younger boys may not be used to this approach, we need to instill the methods of self learning as this is important as you progress in Scouting.

Merit badges are done to learn and be educated about subjects , plus maybe open up ideas for a Vocation or even a Career. Please enforce this with your Scouts.

The worksheet for those who have lost it , dog ate it , etc ......   can be downloaded at http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Aviation on the top of the page. ALSO Note the links at the bottom of the page too.

The Troop 107 Blog will have the worksheet posted , plus other important information about this merit Badge.

Lastly it is our intention to either visit the Air Harbor airport or the FAA Tower at KGSO , and I am trying to organize this for Tuesday June 3rd, we would need to gather earlier than normal for this to take place.

As you know we encourage our scouts to be responsible for their own actions - So For those of you who have older scouts with their own email address - they can be on our direct mail system too, just let us know their emails and they can also join the Blog and Facebook page (with your approval first).

Last point of organization -  get a flip folder / presentation book with clear plastic sleeves , and get your scout to keep all important papers in this and keep it with his scout book.
